Prostate cancer is a deadly disease that can survived with early detection, so regular testing is necessary. If some is diagnosed there are many options available for prostate cancer treatment. Obviously, the prostate cancer treatment will depend on the stage of the cancer and what is best for the patient.
Prostate surgery is one likely prostate cancer treatment and, of course, removes the cancerous prostate. There are several different types of prostate surgery procedures that are used today. There is the traditional surgery open Prostatectomy, coventional Laparoscopy and the da Vinci Prostatectomy (doctor is assisted by a robot.)
If the prostate treatment is determined to not require prostrate surgery there are other less invasive treatments. Radiation is another option for the prostrate cancer treatment. Even with radiation there are options for the prostrate treatment. There is beam radiation therapy that is done externally and there is also an internal procedure that uses radioactive seed implants. These options appear to be used as part of the Prostrate treatment if the cancer is localized.
Two other courses of possible prostrate treatments are cryosurgery and hormone therapy. With cryosurgery liquid nitrogren is used and kills the cancerous cells. In using hormone therapy the patient is deprived of the androgen hormone, which can possibly stop the growth of the cancer.
Whether surgery is required or another method of treatment is deemed more appropriate there are many options available for the treatment of prostrate cancer.
